Balestrand Hotel

What a view!

Pros: We had a seaview room. Wow! The view was wonderful!!! We could have sat on the balcony all afternoon soaking it in. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious and the shower was good. Staff were lovely and we appreciated the lift and parking. We enjoyed the coffee and croissants for breakfast, had a few games of pool and then went out for a hike and exploration of the town. So glad we stayed here!

We enjoyed our three days it was relaxing

Pros: The complimentary croissants and coffee for breakfast were wonderful. Staff were just so kind and friendly. Location was amazingly beautiful.

Fabulous location for exploring the fjiords

Pros: The hotel had more of the feel of a young people's budget hotel - but nothing wrong with that. The sauna half over the fjiord that belonged to the hotel looked very good, if onle we had had time. Fabulous location and absolutely great young staff - very helpful and chatty. The art on the stairways and in the public areas were eclectic and brilliant.

Cons: The downstairs area had a feel of being unfinished.

Great place, rooms with balcony overlooking the fjord and super friendly staff

Pros: Fantastic balcony overlooking the fjord, croissant and coffee available in the morning, nice bar in foyer and a great place opposite to go for a swim in the fjord

Cons: Slightly dated in the decor - but that’s being really picky

nice and modern hotel, kind of hipster but in the best possible way. great location too

Pros: the bar that was open until 11pm, the pool table in the lobby, free croissants and coffee in the morning despite of the rooms being announced as not including breakfast

Gorgeous location

Pros: Greatly situated near the Sognefjord with gorgeous views and direct access to the water (not super-accessible though so we went over to the pier at Kviknes hotel to swim). Beds were comfortable enough and the room clean. The bar downstairs had a great range of options for drinks and the staff were friendly. Short walk to restaurants.

Cons: The room was dated and rather sad looking. A bit odd that some staff did not speak Norwegian. The room got quite hot at times. The croissant breakfast just wasn’t available one day without explanation.

Great little hotel with a cool vibe.

Pros: A lovely hotel with lovely touches and a great vibe. The hotel has been modernised in a basic fashion which really works. The room with the fjord was fabulous. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, the croissants were delicious but the best was swimming in the fjord just across the garden.

Good stay at Balestrand Hotel

Pros: Great value for money, very comfortable. Good location. Helpful staff, nice area in hotel reception where you can chill, it rained for quite a lot of our stay so was fun to play the boardgames provided. There is a drop in Sauna at the bottom of their garden on the water's edge that was amazing to experience. The decor was really interesting.

Cons: The shower (wet room) would flood and make the whole floor wet. They had floor-squeegee to help with that, but we had to lay extra towels on the floor to not get our socks wet. Would have been good to have a few extra plug sockets around the room.

Great hotel perfect for a quick stopover

Pros: Great hotel for a stopover - amazing views from the hotel. Balestrand is a really interesting town with some amazing houses.
