Scandic - our favourite hotels in Norway

Pros: We like Scandic hotels, the corporate ethos appeals to me - I like the 24 hour free coffee machine and very much apreciated the soda/water tap in the common area, where you can actually easily fill your flask. The check-in was warm and welcoming, the room not fancy but well up to standard and we were even given a whole carton of milk so that my husband could make tea with the kettle in our room. The breakfast, as we expected from our previous experience with Scandic, was a delightful choice of everything, including pickled fish, which we like.

Cons: The area is not very inspiring but that is not the fault of the hotel management:)

Pros: nice position with sea-view room; nice breakfast with wide range of choice (also gluten-free)

Cons: room a bit small for a family of 4 adults

Pros: The breakfast! It is marvelous. Either the food or the site.

The prize for the best hotel receptionist we have ever met 😊

Pros: View of the old town from the room. Very relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast excellent.

Scandic, your happy place in Kristiansund.

Pros: 1. One of the more famous hotels in Kristiansund. Everyone knows where Scandic is. 2. Great location, overlooking the bay. Great to see the boats and the cruise ships sailing by. 3. Wide spread of breakfast options. Lovely restaurant area. 4. Very warm and welcoming staff. Always ready to help, even if it's the middle of the night. We got local recommendations and travel recommendations to nearby spots like the Atlantic Ocean Road. 5. Good cleaning of room. 6. All amenities provided, nespresso machine, tea, kettle.

Cons: 1. Gym could be better equipped. It's small with sparse equipment. No treadmill, so couldn't get my run in. Everything else was wonderful. We would love to make a trip back again. We had a very good time at Scandic and at Kristiansund. Thank you, guys!

Pros: The German man at the reception was VERY pleasant. Very communicative which I appreciated a lot as a guest. He was there when I had questions (evening/night shift), and very social. I felt very welcomed at the hotel because of him.

A lovely family room with plenty of space.

Pros: Good location, very nice dining room. Well laid out food areas for easy use.

Cons: Gluten and lactose free had limited choices. No regular gf bread for toasting or toaster. No lactose free/soya yoghurt.

Great view!

Pros: Great room, and lovely view over the water. Friendly staff. Would definitely return.

Cons: 2 minor criticisms - firstly the hotel and room was really hot. We were able to open the window in our room to help this a tiny bit but even the hallways and reception area were like an oven. Secondly the breakfast, whilst plentiful, was cold despite being kept on hot plates.

Pros: Outstanding service at check in. And they gave us a free upgrade as we were having to deal with an issue with Booking.com that they sorted very effectively too! Well done both Companies!
