Sogndal Bed & Breakfast

Welcome to Sogndal Bed & Breakfast and to Sogndal! We are a hostel that are only open in the summer time, during the school year we are Sogndal Folk High School. Come to us to enjoy our own private garden, we have a lovely apple garden that have a hammoc and several homemade chairs to relax in. Here you can relax, read a good book or take a nap. We also have a sand volleyball court and a scoccer field where you can borrow a ball from the reception. Sogndal village is only 500 meters from the property (around 10 minuts to walk) and we have several hiking trails in the area. Each room at Sogndal Bed & Breakfast is bright and modern with access to free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have private bathrooms, while others have shared facilities. All rooms have access to a shared kitchen. Guests can enjoy the barbecue facilities in the garden. Kaupanger is a 15 minute drive away, from where boats leave for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nærøyfjord. Urnes Stave Church is only 20 km from Sogndal Bed & Breakfast Glacier hiking can be done on Nigardsbreen Glacier, only an hour’s drive away. Kayaking is a popular activity in the area. The city of Bergen is just under 4 hours’ drive away, while Sogndal Airport is only 20 minutes’ away by car.

practical

Pros: it was very clean, spacious, and also comfortable common areas.

Cons: the beds were uncomfortable. There were not utilities, like bath soap, hair drier, and so on.

A basic and affordable accommodation

Pros: The location and view are better than expected. Very helpful staff. The twin room offers ample spaces for us. Very quiet at night. It is nothing fancy and luxurious but affordable. Free use of washing machines and dryers. Basic breakfast. Free car park.

Cons: The shower drainage was a bit smelly. The two dryers that I had used seemed not to function well (or I could not operate properly; there was no English instruction).

Good functional accommodation with everything you need

Pros: A good spacious room, comfortable bed and friendly staff that made us feel welcome upon arrival. Good basic breakfast with all of the essentials. Would happily stay here again.

Cons: The pillows were the only thing. They were too thin and ideally need replacing. I stuffed a spare bath towel into it to raise my head slightly, so they must have wondered when they came to clean the room the next morning!

Pros: Quiet and clean room with very nice beds. This place has an old school charm and the staff was super nice! Convenient place to stay for a couple of nights.

Cons: No vegan options at breakfast. The entrance door to our part of the building was super loud when not closed with the handle carefully. Some people left their litter all over the outside area :-/

Lovely place, easy to access, staff were kind.

Pros: It’s easy to access from the main road. The room itself had a beautiful view. The staff were lovely.

Cons: It’s difficult to use as a base, when travelling on public transport. Lots of places are quite far away. There was a bag of rubbish left on the balcony for a couple of hours after I arrived. It’s not very sociable.

Comfortable stay with a great brekafast

Pros: Everything was clean, and we loved the selection for breakfast

Cons: The kitchen got a bit crowded and there wasn't enough cutlery for everyone who wanted to eat dinner or prepare it

Good value for money

Pros: The location was very nice; the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast included with good variety of food.

Cons: The kitchen was not big enough for all the people that was there. We arrived to cook at 9pm and it was crowded by families with few space for us and no clean dishes. Also I would like to have had more fruit variety in the breakfast.

Pros: Spacious location, built for students. Close to centre of town with near the harbour a few good restaurants Only 15 minutes drive to the ferry in Kaupanger to Gudvangen Good breakfast

Recommended for families and for those who enjoy preparing their own meals.

Pros: The breakfast was plentiful, and the dining area offered lovely views of the lake. The grounds were spacious, perfect for children to run and play, and the accommodation was clean and tidy. Excellent value for money.

Cons: The kitchen could be a little cleaner.
