Bjørgo Gard - Stegastein

Nice stay

Pros: Very clean. Nice hosts. Can charge the car in the free parking. Equipped and full kitchen. TV w/cable. Nice setting in the middle of a farm. WiFi. Private bathroom.

Cons: Driving up and down that steep hill from Auland through those hairpins is not so fun, rather stressful. Nothing is walking distance (except for Stegastein view point). You have to pay extra for towels and linens.

We had a lovely peaceful stay at Bjorgo.

Pros: The property was in a lovely, peaceful location with good facilities. The kitchen was well equipped.

Cons: The apartment is up an extra gravel path/driveway that cannot be driven so just need to be prepared to drag or carry luggage about 50m.

We highly recommend Byørgo Gard for its great value, beauty, and comfort.

Pros: Our stay was outstanding. The apartment was clean, well maintained and comfortable. The beds were of high quality and the living room was spacious. I slept in the bottom bunk bed, my son took the upper level room; we both slept soundly and comfortably. Our host was so very thoughtful, responsive and helpful! The views were spectacular. Highly recommended!

Cons: Our fault: We didn't have an automobile or cell phone service (we're from the U.S.) This made transportation to/from Byørgo Gard challenging but manageable. There is one Flåm/Aurland taxi service, and they charge ~900kr each way to/from Flåm. One time we forgot to schedule a ride from Byørgo back to town and, because one must call the taxi service, we had no way to contact them. But our kind and resourceful host used her phone to call them for us, and after that we scheduled rides with the taxi service in advance.

Pros: Excellent location. Great view on fjords. Newly-restored apartment. The hostess and her daughter have been very attentive.

Cons: Apartment is a bit steep uphill from the car parking so it will be a bit of an effort to carry your luggage

Unplanned trip turned good

Pros: The host was very nice. She allwed late evening check in and she even offered me a ride to Flam. It was very useful as I had no car and there are few buses from the property to Flam.

Pros: Heated floors!!! Very warm property, actually, the warmest during our road trip. It is a basic cabin with rural feeling and great views. Has everything you need. It is said that cabin can accommodate 9 people. It does have 9 beds, but one bathroom - so long stay with 9 people can be tricky. But otherwise it is great for a family or for hanging out with group of friends - great leaving room , nice terrace, bbq If you want to explore fjord, Flam, Aurland - be ready to drive narrow serpentine with a heavy traffic (better to leave earlier), but views!!!!!

Cons: I found the key collection confusing. What you actually need to do: go to main facility, the host gives you key and tell which cabin you have. Cabin on photos was different from what we had.

Pros: Hytter style cabin on a mountain pass. Very quiet and calming. Amazing views, near Stegastein viewpoint. Fully equipped with a microwave, hob, oven and fridge. Warm on a cold, rainy day. Had a really enjoyable stay admiring the view and getting to know the sheep.

Cons: There was nothing I didn't like but other people may like to know that you will need to drive along a mountain road to get here. The cabin is on a mountain side with no other amenities around. There is a steep walk from the car to the cabin. Like any other hytter in Norway, the one bedroom beds are bunk beds, you pay for linen hire, and you are expected to leave it as clean as you found it. I thought this was clear in the information provided.

All in all a good trip, nice location - but frustrating without cellular signals.

Pros: Nice location. Minimalistic but clean features and furniture. Spacious hut and apartment.

Cons: No mobile service other then Telenor. No WiFi in the main hut. Host did not let us use the wood stove/fireplace. Very little kitchen accesories, you should bring more yourself. Coffeemachine was out of coffee.

Basic cottage with cost effective stay up the mountains.

Pros: Good location: 500 m walk to Stegadtein view point. Apartment served the purpose of stay in a cost effective way.
