Sveggvika Guesthouse

Historic Oceanfront Retreat on Averøy Wake up to sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean in a beautifully restored former Bacalao (salted and dried cod) factory, located in a quiet oceanfront setting on the island of Averøy. This rustic guesthouse combines authentic coastal history with warmth and comfort — an ideal retreat for couples and travelers seeking tranquility, nature, and a slower pace of life. The building’s long maritime history is reflected in the character of the rooms, each uniquely and brightly decorated to tell the story of the past, while offering modern comfort and breathtaking sea views. Rooms with Atlantic Ocean Views All oceanfront rooms feature French balconies with direct views of the sea, allowing you to enjoy fresh sea air, changing light, and dramatic coastal weather from the comfort of your room. The peaceful surroundings make this an ideal place to unwind, reconnect, and experience Norway’s raw coastal beauty. Please make sure that you book an oceanfront room if you want seaview. Breakfast by the Sea (Seasonal) A continental buffet breakfast is included in the price and served daily from April 1st to October 31st — a relaxed and nourishing start to the day before exploring the island or enjoying a slow morning by the ocean. Seasonal Restaurant – A Taste of Averøy From May 1st to September 30th, our intimate on-site restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday (closed Mondays) and offers a seasonal dining experience inspired by local traditions. Our kitchen focuses on world-class ingredients from the surrounding sea and local agriculture, reflecting the culinary heritage of the region. The restaurant offers a three-course menu, with the option to choose lighter alternatives if preferred. Dinner begins at 19:00 and must be pre-ordered by phone or email, either at the time of booking or during check-in. Please remember to inform us of any allergies. We recommend reserving a table in advance. Explore the experience of the Atlantic Ocean Road The guesthouse is an excellent base for discovering the island and nearby attractions at a relaxed pace: • Kristiansund town center – approx. 15 minutes by car • The Atlantic Ocean Road – approx. 30 minutes by car Brochures and suggestions are available in your room, and we are happy to share tips before your arrival. Highlights include: • World War II history • Local museums • Historic churches • Scenic ocean viewpoints • Storm-watching locations Nature, Sea & Slow Experiences The nearby ocean offers excellent opportunities for nature experiences, fishing, and other sea-based activities. Whether you prefer long coastal walks, quiet moments by the water, or simply watching the changing weather, this is a place designed for presence and relaxation. An on-site bar is available and serves beverages when staff are on site. A little bit of paradise

Pros: This place is a pearl in the North Atlantic. We booked for one night but when we saw it we immediately booked an extra. Luckily there was a room available for the extra night. The photos do not do this place justice. Beautifully decorated, well stocked kitchen with everything you need. Beds are super comfy. And the views, well they are to die for.

Cons: There is nothing. This place is perfect.

Pros: An oasis of peace among a community of summer houses and surrounded by a marvellous nature. You can take a refreshing bath, go canoeing, fishing, trekking or simply sit on the terrace and enjoy the tasty food and local beers. The staff is amazing, you'll be spoiled here 😉

It's amazing trip, so close to the Atlantic.

Pros: The guesthouse is built from a Fish Farm and just beside the sea, from the room window we feel we are on the water, and we even saw a seajelly in the water, it's amazing. We like the room very much, feel comfortable to sit on the coach and watch the sea. Just the floor steps a bit raw and we were on the 3rd floor, get the luggage to the room is bit challenge, but the staff is so welcome, helpped us to lift the luggage to the room, so appreciated!

Cons: The curtains were not fully sun blocking
