Pros: The owner is very nice and gives good advice on what to visit in the area. The place is extra quiet and the breakfast is amazing

A friendly, comfortable stay in a great location

Pros: Lovely staff & a unique location at the head of Fjæra fjord (there are regular I hour boat trips to see a very large waterfall). The rooms are comfy if a bit wacky (the building is a converted school) and there are lots of climbing opportunities if you’re feeling adventurous!

Cons: It’s not a criticism, but be aware that the previous role of the building makes it unusual. A nocturnal trip to the toilet involves walking across the basketball court…

Pros: We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The room was very cozy and comfortable, and the breakfasts were truly excellent – a wide variety of options, including delicious traditional Norwegian specialties like brown cheese, which was such a nice surprise. The entire hotel feels warm and homely, almost as if you are staying at a friend’s house rather than a hotel. A big part of this experience comes from the incredible staff. Special thanks go to Mr. Robert, who always took care of us, recommended great attractions nearby, and made us feel truly welcome. We are very grateful for his kindness and support. Highly recommended to anyone visiting this area!

Pros: Excellent accommodation on a wonderful location with very nice hosts.

Personal approach of the owner, beautiful surroundings, good breakfast

Pros: Original place - an old school in the middle of the mountains that the owner himself once visited. The rooms are originally furnished - you don't feel like you're in a hotel, but rather like you're visiting your grandmother. The terrace with a mountain view was also a wonderful experience.

Great all around, minor inconveniences in the room.

Pros: Really clean. Spacious. Good beds. Great shower. Friendly and helpful staff.

Cons: Fridge in the room didn't work. One bed lamp didn't work. Free parking garage is nice under the hotel. Location isn't the best as of July 2025: lots of construction going on around the hotel.

Pros: Host was super kind and accommodated my late arrival. Everything was really clean and comfortable.

The far outside school

Pros: Robert and his team are running this B&B with a lot of joy and passion. We liked the school vibes of the house and felt very comfortable while staying there. The breakfast was pretty solid. Drinks and ice cream are available for purchase on site for an extra fee. When asked politely, Robert even heated up our food in his kitchen.

Cons: When getting there, you should be aware that naturewise options in the surroundings are limited. We found other hiking areas more enjoyable. Folgefonna nationalpark is only accessible after a long hike. Langfossen waterfall can only be reached via a noisy country road. Given the local bus schedule, a transfer to Trolltunga can only be arranged with your own car or a private transfer (OddaBus or OddaTaxi service). There is no direct connection and no bus before 1 pm to Odda. For us, that was a bit surprising. Also, there is no supermarket close by. Unfortunately, some guests lock the door to the communal shower room. As a result, it is not possible to shower at times. Partition walls could help to ensure their privacy while enabling others to take a shower.
